Dewani, secretary to Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, was murdered in 2001.
The judge ordered that he be produced in court on December nine in connection with the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast.
The agency did not confirm or deny if some of the Bollywood personalities, mentioned in some media reports, would be summoned for questioning when Salem was in CBI custody.
The judge also further extended judicial remand of Salem's companion Monica Bedi till January 25.
This is the first time the two accused are appearing together before authorities making a public appearance.
A Delhi court on Thursday issued a fresh production warrant against underworld don Abu Salem in a five-year-old extortion case. The magistrate directed jail authorities in Mumbai to produce the gangster on Oct 15.
The special cell of Delhi Police had registered a case of extortion and criminal intimidation against Salem and his alleged associates, Ishtiyaq Ahmed and Chander Prakash, in 2002.
Salem had pleaded that he should be tried along with Sanjay and others while Central Bureau of Investigation argued that the trial should be separate.

Hearing an application filed by Salem in which the gangster sought to be recalled claiming that the extradition conditions are being violated, Portugal's apex court said that his claims are yet to be ascertained. It, however, gave a clear warning to India that future requests will not be entertained easily if Salem's claim of violation of the conditions is found to be true.
The prosecutor placed on record Salem's consent to undergo the tests.
Two other accused in the case, Mohammed Naeem Abdul Rahim Khan and Riyaz Siddique, have turned approvers.
The high court in Portugal has permitted Salem's extradition. Conventionally, a country's apex court invariably goes by this verdict, he said.
The counsel for Abu Salem contended that at the time of his extradition the Portugal government had mentioned that he would not be prosecuted under MCOCA.
Relations between Sumaira and Salem soured after starlet Monica Bedi stepped into the latter's life.

Salem has engaged reputed criminal lawyer Niteen Pradhan to argue his case and shall make his submissions on Tuesday.
A Delhi Court on Saturday issued notice to the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation, seeking his response as to why underworld don Abu Salem was extradited instead of being deported to India from Portugal in 2005, to face trial in criminal cases including the 1992 Mumbai blasts case.The extradition of the don was conditional and came with restrictions on the number of cases on which he could be tried and the quantum of sentence.
Portugal's Ministry of Justice, after considering request of India, had ordered extradition of Salem subject to conditions that he will be tried only in eight cases and that too on specific charges.
Salem had challenged the separation of his trial from other accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case.
It was considered previously that Salem may have committed the murder at someone else's behest.
India has approached Portugal's Supreme Court, challenging its high court order which had terminated the extradition of underworld don Abu Salem for breach of agreement by India, which has slapping charges which may attract death penalty. India, in its appeal before the Portuguese Supreme Court, has said the interpretation of the high court of the trial in various courts of the country was not correct.
The court had earlier issued production warrants at three occasions against Salem but a Mumbai court had stayed his production here on his lawyer's plea on security grounds.
Rai said Salem's lawyers were making efforts to get his name registered in the voter list in Mubarakpur assembly segment.

Rejecting India's plea, Portugal's top court has questioned its locus standi in challenging the order cancelling extradition of underworld don Abu Salem to this country.
Salem will also have to be produced in the Ajit Dewani murder case.
"Salem was attacked by Mustafa Dossa with a sharp object. He was injured and doctors are treating him inside the jail. A police team is at the spot," Vasant Tajane, Senior Inspector at N M Joshi Marg police station, told PTI.
A CBI officer is leaving for Lisbon to file India's request with the Portuguese authorities.
Salem has also said that though he was involved in transportation of these weapons, initially he had no idea that he was transporting weapons.
CBI sources believe that more than Monica, it was Samira who holds keys to several intricate details about Salem.
The charges are against Salem for his alleged role in supplying arms to the co-accused in the 1993 Mumbai serial bomb blast case.
